Our thanks to The Baltimore Sun and the Columbia Flier for shining a spotlight on our Annual Celebration on Oct. 10 and the incredible work Paola Gianturco has done for women and girls.

Paola will be joining us on Oct. 10 to discuss her most recent book “Wonder Girls: Changing the World.” The book showcases the world of activist girls from all over the world, and features three students from Howard County involved in the School Girls Unite Program.

Many thanks to Her Mind Magazine for their coverage of the Rising Women program. We’re honored to support this program’s crucial work driving the entrepreneurial development of young women all over Howard County.

Rising Women is a program run by Junior Achievement of Central Maryland (JA), a nonprofit dedicated to teaching youth skills to ensure their economic success. The Rising Women program was created after JA noticed a gender discrepancy in its classrooms, and was made possible in the fall of 2015 by a grant from WGC.

The program serves 20 of Howard County’s young women entrepreneurs each year, and teaches them that starting their own business is not only a worthy goal, but a realistically attainable one. Read the article here to learn more about how Rising Women inspires Howard County’s young women to embrace their business-savvy selves!
